ABSTRACT
La estomatitis subprótesis constituye un factor de riesgo para la aparición de lesiones premalignas y malignas de la cavidad bucal. Resulta cada vez más preocupante para los servicios estomatológicos su prevalencia, pues esto implica afección de las funciones normales, como la masticación, fonación y estética. Objetivos: determinar el comportamiento de la estomatitis subprótesis en pacientes del Policlínico Universitario Julio Antonio Mella. Método: se realizó un estudio de tipo descriptivo transversal en los pacientes portadores de prótesis dental. El universo lo constituyeron los quinientos ochenta y seis pacientes portadores de prótesis dental que acudieron a consulta de estomatología en el período de tiempo de agosto a diciembre de 2008. Los doscientos ochenta y dos pacientes que portaban la enfermedad conformaron la muestra. A cada paciente se le realizó su historia clínica individual y se les aplicó un formulario validado por pilotaje, lo que constituyó una fuente útil para la obtención de los fines deseados. Resultados: no se presentaron casos del grado III, tampoco en maxilar inferior. Hubo diferencia significativa de las féminas respecto a los masculinos. Conclusiones: la edad promedio de los pacientes afectados por esta enfermedad estuvo entre treinta y cinco y cuarenta y cuatro años en ambos grupos y con predominio por el sexo femenino. El uso continuo de la prótesis, la higiene bucal deficiente y el consumo de alimentos calientes, fueron los hábitos nocivos de mayor frecuencia. La localización preferente de la estomatitis subprótesis fue en la zona media de la bóveda palatina.
The subprosthesis stomatitis constitutes a risk factor for the appearance of premalignant and malignant lesions of the buccal cavity. It is more and more worrying for the stomatological services their prevalence, because this implies affection of the normal functions, like the mastication, phonation and esthetics. Objective: to determine the behavior of the subprosthesis stomatitis in patients of the University Polyclinic "Julio Antonio Mella." Method: a descriptive cross-sectional study in patients carriers of dental prosthesis was performed. The universe was constituted by the five hundred eighty six patients carriers of dental prosthesis that came to the stomatology consultation from August to December 2008. The two hundred eighty two patients that carried the disease constituted formed the sample. To each patient was carried out their clinical individual history and also were applied to them a form validated by pilotage, what constituted a useful source for the obtaining of the wanted ends. Results: cases of III grade didn't show up, either in lower jaw. There was significant difference of the female sex regarding the masculine ones. Conclusions: the average age of the patients affected by this disease was between thirty five and forty four years in both groups and with prevalence for the feminine sex. The continuous use of the prosthesis, the deficient oral hygiene and the consumption of hot foods, were the noxious habits of more frequency. The preferable localization of the subprosthesis stomatitis was in the half area of the palatine vault.
